PUBLIC WATER SAFETY - SWIMMING POOLS

The Environmental Health Division is a code enforcement agency that ensures the health and wellbeing of Waterbury residents including by licensing and inspecting public swimming pools. Public swimming pools including city pools, schools, health clubs, motels/hotels, apartments, condominiums and private clubs.

Public swimming pools must obtain an annual license to operate. They are inspected on a routine basis to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Connecticut Public Health Code. Inspections focus on pool water chemistry/disinfection, safety equipment, filtration and general cleanliness maintenance.
