As part of the Finance Department in the City, the Pension & Benefits Office provides administration and guidance for employees and retirees who are covered by City benefit plans. Retirement plans include a 401(a) Money Purchase Plan, the Waterbury Retirement System which is a defined benefit plan, a 403(b) plan for Department of Education employees and a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Welfare benefits include medical, health & wellness benefits, dental, pharmacy, life insurance, AD&D, a section 125 flexible spending account, dependent care account (daycare), as well as a comprehensive employee assistance program. There are also voluntary supplemental benefits available. We currently cover over 11,000 active employees, family members and retirees under the city programs.
