Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (“RAISE”) Project – W.A.T.E.R. Phase II
The RAISE Grant-funded W.A.T.E.R. Phase II consists of three (3) Components: Component 1 – Phase II of the City’s Naugatuck River Greenway Trail; Component 2 – West Main Street Improvements and Component 3 – the addition of Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations at the Waterbury Train Station.
This project will improve transportation systems in the City's Downtown & Naugatuck River Corridors by complementing work completed under the Federal Transportation Generating Economic Recovery (“TIGER”) Project - W.A.T.E.R. and Phase I of Waterbury’s Naugatuck River Greenway.
W.A.T.E.R. Phase II is an essential step to the economic revitalization of Waterbury and the Naugatuck River Valley region by providing desired social and economic outcomes, including increased transportation connectivity, public safety enhancements, promotion of ecological awareness, increased opportunities for health and fitness activities and public recreation as well as serve as a vehicle to redress environmental injustices of the past thereby resulting in a healthy, sustainable, and resilient environment for all.
