Important Notice to Water Customers of City of Waterbury
The annual water main flushing program begins on 04/01/2025. Flushing is done in an effort to maintain good water quality, remove sediment, reduce mineral buildup & inspect hydrants. Flushing will take place in sequence from zone 1 to zone 20 & will take up to 3 months to complete. Work is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Please refer to the map & streets listed to find your zone at www.waterburyct.org under the Water Department tab.
When flushing, you may experience some fluctuation in pressure. Some discoloration may occur & is from harmless, stirred up sediment. Refrain from using the washing machine, dishwasher & other water consuming devices until flushing is complete & water has cleared. This is not a health concern but more of an inconvenience as laundry may become discolored & need additional washing. Water usually clears up after a few minutes but if your water continues to be discolored after an hour please contact the Water Dept., at 203-574-8251 press 1 or refer to our website www.waterburyct.org under the Water Dept., tab & read our FAQ on discolored water.
