Secretary of the State Denise Merrill has announced that Waterbury is the winner of the “Democracy Cup” award, a recognition given out every year to towns and cities with the best voter turnout on Election Day.

Based on the highest voter turnouts from the Nov. 8 elections, Waterbury took the honor among large cities in the state.  Waterbury will host and display a trophy through the next election cycle.

Trophy presentation ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 14 at 10 a.m. in Veteran’s Hall, City Hall Building, 235 Grand St.
