Waterbury Fire Department Appoints Captain Justin Myers as Public Information Officer
(WATERBURY, CT) The Waterbury Fire Department today announced the appointment of Captain Justin Myers as its new Public Information Officer (PIO).
Captain Myers currently serves as Aide to the Chief and brings nearly 20 years of experience with the Waterbury Fire Department to his new role. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience in emergency services while also developing the administrative and communication skills necessary to effectively serve as the department’s liaison with the media and the public.
“Captain Myers brings a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to this position,” said Fire Chief Javier Lopez. “His understanding of the department, combined with his experience in emergency services and his strong administrative skills, makes him well suited to serve as our Public Information Officer. I am confident he will do an excellent job communicating with the public and our media partners.”
Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr. congratulated Captain Myers on his appointment and emphasized the importance of clear and timely communication between the Fire Department and the community.
“Effective communication is an important part of public safety,” said Mayor Pernerewski. “Captain Myers understands the work of our firefighters and the demands they face every day. His experience and professionalism will serve the Fire Department and the people of Waterbury well in this new role.”
As Public Information Officer, Captain Myers will serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries involving the Waterbury Fire Department and will provide information regarding department activities, emergency incidents and other matters of public interest.
