City Opens Additional Shower Facilities for Residents Affected by Water Main Break
The City of Waterbury is expanding resources available to residents impacted by the ongoing transmission water main break by opening three Waterbury Public Schools facilities for shower use.
Beginning Saturday, August 1, and continuing on Sunday, August 2, residents affected by the water outage and Boil Water Notice may utilize shower facilities at the following locations:
Jonathan Reed PreK-8 School
33 Griggs Street
Hours: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Waterbury Career Academy
175 Birch Street
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Duggan PreK-8 School
38 West Porter Street
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
These locations are being opened to assist residents who remain without water service or who are unable to safely shower at home while repair efforts continue.
The city also extends its sincere appreciation to the Greater Waterbury YMCA for generously making its shower facilities available to affected residents throughout the weekend.

Sunday, August 2: 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"We know this has been an incredibly difficult situation for thousands of our residents," said Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr. "We are grateful to Waterbury Public Schools and the Greater Waterbury YMCA for partnering with the city to provide these important resources while our Water Department crews continue working around the clock to restore water service."
The city will continue to operate its bottled water distribution site at the Municipal Stadium North Parking Lot, 1200 Watertown Avenue, according to the following schedule:
Friday, July 31: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 1: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 2: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents are also encouraged to bring their own clean buckets or containers to fill with water for non-drinking purposes, including flushing toilets.
The Boil Water Notice remains in effect for all affected areas. Residents should continue to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, food preparation, and brushing their teeth until the notice has been lifted by the Water Department.
