Responding to Transmission Line Break in Thomaston
(Waterbury,
CT) The City of Waterbury is currently responding to a break in the 42-inch
water transmission line located in Thomaston, on Waterbury Road approximately
one mile from the Waterbury line. This transmission line is part of Waterbury s
water system.
The
break is located approximately 50 feet north of the section of pipe that was
repaired and returned to service following the April 24, 2026 transmission line
break.
Crews
from the Waterbury Bureau of Water, along with Dayton Construction, are on site
and actively excavating and evaluating the extent of the damage.
At
this time, no residents or businesses are expected to lose water service. Some
customers may have experienced a temporary drop in water pressure or discolored
water. Residents who notice discolored water are advised to run their faucets
until the water runs clear.
Repair
work is expected to take approximately five to seven days to complete.
Waterbury Road in Thomaston will be closed and detoured in the area of the
break while repairs are underway.
The
city will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more
information becomes available.
