The meeting will focus on operational readiness, interdepartmental coordination, staffing, equipment, and resource deployment in advance of a significant winter storm expected to impact Connecticut beginning Sunday afternoon.

According to the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security:

  • Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for Northern Connecticut beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
  • Blizzard Warnings are in effect for Southern Connecticut from 1:00 p.m. Sunday through 6:00 p.m. Monday.
  • A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for Fairfield and New Haven Counties from midnight Sunday through 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Current forecast models project substantial snowfall across the state, with estimates ranging from 10 to 24 inches, and some models indicating the potential for higher localized totals. Wind gusts are forecast between 45 and 70 mph, creating the risk of blowing and drifting snow, near whiteout conditions, and scattered power outages.

The Mayor and city officials will provide an overview of anticipated impacts, preparedness efforts, and any public safety measures during the press conference.
