City of Waterbury Cancels 7th Annual Winter is the Pits Event Due to Weather

(Waterbury, CT) The City of Waterbury has canceled the 7th Annual Winter is the Pits event scheduled for Saturday, February 7, at Hamilton Park due to forecasted weather conditions.

The forecast includes snow showers, strong winds with gusts over 40 mph, and dangerously cold temperatures. Wind chills are expected to make conditions feel well below zero. For the safety of residents, vendors, and staff, the decision was made to cancel the event.

Winter is the Pits is a free community winter festival traditionally held around the historic Stone House Pavilion at Hamilton Park. The event features activities for families and residents of all ages, including children’s train rides, fire pits, a community bonfire, s’mores, music, games, arts and crafts, food trucks, and a mobile pub.

The city appreciates the public’s understanding and encourages residents to take precautions during extreme cold and windy conditions.

For updates and additional information, residents are encouraged to follow the City of Waterbury on official communication channels.
