City of Waterbury Announces Closure of City Offices for Non-Essential Employees Due to Winter Storm

(WATERBURY, CT) Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr. announced that City of Waterbury offices will be closed tomorrow, January 26, 2026, for non-essential employees due to the ongoing winter storm and hazardous conditions.

The City of Waterbury has received nearly 20 inches of snow thus far, with additional snowfall expected to continue into the morning or early afternoon. Road conditions remain dangerous, and public safety remains the administration’s highest priority.

Department of Public Works crews and other city personnel have been working throughout the day and will continue operations overnight to address snow removal and storm related impacts. Mayor Pernerewski extends his sincere appreciation to these crews for their tireless efforts to keep roads passable and maintain critical city services during this significant weather event.

Essential employees should report to work as directed by their department heads.

Residents and employees are encouraged to remain off the roads when possible and to prioritize personal safety as storm response efforts continue.
