UPDATE: Water Main Break on Oakville Avenue – Repairs Completed

(Waterbury, CT) The City of Waterbury Water Department has completed repairs to an 8-inch water main break on Oakville Avenue. The break, which affected the area from approximately 210 Oakville Avenue to Whitewood Road, has been fully repaired.

Residents and businesses in the affected area did not experience a loss of water pressure during the incident, and as a result, no boil water advisory is being issued.

Mayor Paul Pernerewski thanked the Water Department crews for their swift and dedicated response. “Our crews worked expeditiously to repair the break before the start of the snow event. Their efforts ensured residents maintained uninterrupted water service during what could have been a challenging situation,” said Mayor Pernerewski.

The city of Waterbury typically experiences between 30 and 40 breaks each year with a concentration during the winter months. This break was consistent with the typical seasonal pattern. Crews were on site ensuring completion of the repair before the first flakes of snow fell, much like the USPS motto: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays the water crews from their swift completion of their appointed water main break repairs.”

The city thanks residents for their patience and cooperation and encourages anyone with questions to visit www.waterburyct.org for more information.
