Re: Bank Street, South Main Street, and North Main Street Complete Streets Project

For Immediate Release

A design workshop for the Bank Street, South Main Street, and North Main Street Complete Streets Project will be held on Tuesday, January 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the Veteran’s Memorial Hall Room at the City Hall 235 Grand Street Waterbury, CT 06702. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about this important project and provide input and feedback on the overall “look and feel” of Bank Street, South Main Street, and North Main Street.

The Complete Streets Project is an ambitious effort by the City and the Waterbury Development Corporation (WDC) to further reinvigorate the City’s Downtown and create a vibrant public realm from Exchange Place outward. The project will include roadway reconstruction, new sidewalks, street lights, trees, bus shelters, street furniture, crosswalks, and installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons to improve pedestrian safety at mid-block crossings. Utility and infrastructure work will include minor storm drainage improvements, replacement of water and gas mains and sanitary sewer repairs.
Elected officials, business owners, and members of the public are encouraged to attend the event to provide their thoughts, feedback, and suggestions on the public realm improvements.
