First Installment of Motor Vehicle Tax Bills Due During the Month of October

 

The City of Waterbury has issued motor vehicle tax bills. The first installment is due by November 1, 2017. The second installment is due by February 1, 2018. Payments can be made at the Tax Office, by mail or online. If you have any questions, please contact the Tax Office at 203-574-6811.

 

The following is the legal notice regarding motor vehicle taxes, as printed in the Republican American on September 28, 2017:

 

 

NOTICE

 

CITY OF WATERBURY

 

LIST OF OCTOBER 1, 2016

 

All owners of Motor Vehicles taxable in the City of Waterbury are hereby notified that a tax of 37.00 mills on the dollar for Motor Vehicles as part of the ratable estate of the City of Waterbury lying within the taxable district as established by the General Assembly is hereby laid to meet expenses of the City of Waterbury for the fiscal period between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.  Interest will be added to the October 1, 2017 installment after November 1, 2017.  Interest will be added to the January 1, 2018 installment after February 1, 2018.

 

Any portion of this remaining unpaid after the due date of each installment will be delinquent and subject to interest at a rate of one and one-half percent (1 ½%) for each month or part  thereof.  Minimum interest is $2.00 per installment per Public Act #73-494 State Legislature.

 

The Office of the Tax Collector, located in Waterbury City Hall, 235 Grand Street, Waterbury, Connecticut will be open daily except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8:55 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to receive tax payments.  MasterCard, Visa and Discover cards are accepted for payment.

 

All property taxes…shall be subject to a discount of one percent (1%) of the total amounts, if claimed by the taxpayer at the time of making payment and if the entire tax is paid in one payment within the first installment collection period.  (Chapter 1 Part B Section 1B-2 Waterbury City Charter)

 

 

Checks should be made payable to the Tax Collector, P.O. Box 2556, Waterbury, Connecticut 06723-2556. 

Tax payments post-marked on or before November 1st 2017 will not be considered delinquent.
