5/2/2016 - Main Street Waterbury wins award for holiday decorations

The Connecticut Main Street Center announced Monday May 2 that Main Street Waterbury won its Awards of Excellence in the category of Events & Programming for its annual Downtown Holiday Window Display Competition.

Main Street Waterbury was one of just five recipients of the coveted awards. Carl Rosa of Main Street Waterbury was pleased with the win.

“I would like to acknowledge, thank, and congratulate the Main Street Waterbury Design Committee for their great work in coordinating this annual festive competition,” Rosa said.

Gov. Dannel Malloy understands the importance Connecticut’s Downtowns serve in our economy and quality of life.

“Not only are they economic drivers with their dense array of shops, restaurants and businesses, but their cultural offerings, walkable streets, and modern housing contribute to a vibrant state,” Malloy said. “I congratulate this year’s winners for continuing the tradition of downtown being the epicenter of ingenuity, opportunity and public discourse.”
