3/30/2016 - Water Department will replace two 24-inch Valves on Huntingdon Ave.

The Waterbury Bureau of Water plans to replace two broken valves on our 24 inch Low Service Transmission Main on Huntingdon Avenue at the intersections of Gear Street and Ford Avenue. Preliminary street excavations are scheduled for Friday April 1, 2016 beginning at 8 am with work continuing throughout the day. Early Saturday April 2, 2016 work will initiate on the actual valve replacements which are expected to be complete by Mid-day on Sunday April 3, 2016. Travel lane closures will be necessary during this time period. Motorists should avoid this area, if at all possible, during the construction period. If travel is necessary, please use caution when driving through the work area.

As with any large water valve replacement project, there may be some temporary discolored water and a potential small drop in water pressure for water customers, primarily in the Bunker Hill area.

This valve work is critically important as it will enable reliable shut downs to this section of our Low Service Transmission Main in the event of future leaks or breaks.

The Bureau of Water apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this work and reminds all customers that emergency problems can be reported 24/7 by calling 203-574-8251.
