7/21/2015 - AABC Roberto Clemente World Series coming to Waterbury

 

The American Amateur Baseball Congress Roberto Clemente World Series is coming to Waterbury from July 22 to 26.

A total of 18 teams with players age 8 and younger from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico will descend on Waterbury for the prestigious tourney, which was held last year in Georgia.

Games will be played on the fields at Municipal Stadium and Waterbury PAL Park. Schedules are still being worked out. Waterbury PAL will assist in the tourney.

Mayor O’Leary is supporting this tournament and looking forward to the children and their parents visiting Waterbury. State Rep. Victor Cuevas of Waterbury has been instrumental in bringing the tournament to Waterbury as well as a team from Puerto Rico.

The event will kick off July 22 with a parade and opening ceremony at Municipal Stadium. If your organization is interested in participating in the parade, please contact Geraldo Reyes Jr. at Mayor O’Leary’s Office, 203-574-6712.
