Once again this May, thousands of people will descend on Library Park for the 3rd Annual installment of The Gathering, Waterbury’s multicultural celebration our City’s rich ethnic diversity.
This year’s version of The Gathering – set for Saturday May 16 – is expected to draw more than 10,000 people representing 80 different countries to Library Park. Some 4,000 people are expected to march in the 11 a.m. parade for The Gathering.
Mayor O'Leary's goal is to have every Waterbury school child participate in The Gathering, That's why he is asking teachers, principals and administrators to fully engage their students in this wonderful event, either by marching or building a float.
Hundreds of our school children attended and participated in The Gathering in 2014 and we’re hoping for an even greater turnout in 2015.
The 3rd Annual Gathering will also have a children’s stage that will feature entertainment specifically for children. It will operate until 8 p.m.
