1/26/2015 - Winter Storm Updates, Jan. 26-Jan. 27

All City of Waterbury employees are advised to report to work Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Refuse/Recycling Collection was suspended for Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. All regularly scheduled Tuesday collections will occur on Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday collections remain unchanged.  Should you have any questions please contact the Bureau of Refuse at (203) 574-6857.

The shelter at Waterbury Arts Magnet School, 16 S. Elm Street will close at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The Emergency Operations Center will close at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Parking ban is lifted as of 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

District Reapportionment Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28 is tentatively set for Friday, Jan. 30 at 4:30 p.m.


Free Parking is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Buckingham Garage and Scovill Street Garage.

Board of Aldermen meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26 is cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

In preparation for the impending winter storm the following parking ban will be effective Monday, January 26, 2015 at 12 noon:

- In addition to all currently posted “Snow Zones” there will be NO Parking on the ODD numbered side of all city streets. Residents are encourage to use their residential driveways in lieu of parking on the street.
- Vehicles parked in snow zones or the ODD numbered side of streets may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking ban will be lifted at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Naugatuck Valley Community College will close at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 and will remain closed Tuesday, Jan. 27.  Classes starting at 2:00 p.m. or later today are cancelled.

New Opportunities, Inc. will close Monday, Jan. 26  at 2:00 p.m. and will be closed, Tuesday, Jan. 27. Customers needing emergency assistance should call 2-1-1.
