4/3/2014 - Street Sweeping

 

The City’s residential street sweeping program will begin on Monday, March 31, 2014, weather permitting. Below is an overview of the program. Detailed updates will be provided weekly through local media sources including the City of Waterbury website.

Property owners are asked to begin sweeping their sidewalks into the immediate gutter line, removing any debris, litter and leaves. Sand should not be swept into large piles.

Week beginning Monday 3/31/14:

Crew 1 will begin sweeping in District 6-4, which is in the north side of town, from Long Hill area southerly to East Main St. and Cherry St. easterly to Berkeley Ave.

Crew 2 will begin work in District 4-1, starting at the Wolcott town line/Sharon Rd., continuing south and west to Meriden Rd. This area includes the Windy Dr,/Capitol Ave, area, the Alexander Ave, area and the Chase School Area.

Afternoon and night sweeping including District 5-1 from Sperry St. easterly to Cherry St. and Grove St. southerly to Meadow St.. including the downtown business district. will occur during the week of April 1st. In addition to the downtown business district, industrial complexes in the Progress Ln. and Reidville Dr. area will be swept.

Week beginning Monday 4/14/14:

A third crew will be added and begin sweeping in District 2, which is in the west end of town, from the Watertown line Bunker Hill Ave./Ridgeland Dr. to West Main St. and Park Rd. easterly to Watertown Ave. Also included within this district is the Colonial Ave/Brookside area.

The Public Works Department will post signs in the districts prior to scheduled sweeping. Every effort should be made to remove parked vehicles from the scheduled routes prior to the arrival of the sweepers. Vehicles not removed during the sweeping operation may be towed at the owner’s expense.
