Connecticut company proposes a major production and distribution facility in Waterbury; has top team and medical model to make it work
C-Three, LLC, a company led by long-time Connecticut businessman Thomas Macre, today filed applications with the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection for the production and dispensing of medical marijuana at a facility on East Aurora Street in Waterbury.
Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary and other city officials joined Mr. Macre and members of his C-Three team at a press conference this morning at the proposed site, where plans were unveiled for a medical marijuana manufacturing and dispensing facility with the best medical model in the State of Connecticut. C-Three plans to invest millions of dollars in the facility and to initially create approximately 20 new jobs. Additionally, they say the project will likely generate dozens of construction jobs during what they expect to be a six-month building and renovation period.
Mr. Macre is the owner and operator of MedTech Healthcare Solutions, a medical equipment company based in Orange (CT), which specializes in chronic pain and movement disorder therapies. Mr. Macre has over 20 years of direct experience in the healthcare field, most of which has been spent with patients with debilitating diseases listed as meeting the criteria by the State of Connecticut for medical marijuana usage.
“We have assembled a team of accredited and experienced professionals within the industry, which will help us produce and deliver the highest quality, most consistent product to the patients within the state of Connecticut,” Mr. Macre said.
Mayor O’Leary said at the press conference that he supports C-Three’s plans to establish this facility in the city. He added that the quality of the team assembled by Mr. Macre – including Matthew Cook, a retired law enforcement officer who is nationally renowned for the best security measures available in the industry – is the top in the industry, making Waterbury an ideal location for C-Three’s medical model.
“The proven security model that C-Three has in place makes this project a winner for the city as well as for patients throughout the area,” Mayor O’Leary said. “As a former police chief, it’s critical to me to see every step of the process closely monitored – the level of transparency and accountability Tom Macre and his team bring to this project gives me the assurance that this is right for Waterbury.”
Mr. Cook, who was the architect of Colorado’s current medical marijuana regulatory model, is regarded as the leading expert in the field of regulation, safety and compliance. He developed the “Agrisoft Seed to Sale” inventory management tracking tool which C-Three will be utilizing to ensure 100% accountability and transparency. Mr. Cook will be developing the security plans and protocol for C-Three to insure that they exceed the state’s requirements.
Joseph McGrath, Economic Development Director for Waterbury, praised the project as a major economic boost to the city. “They’re taking an existing facility and investing millions of dollars in it to get it up and running in just a six-month time frame. They expect to create 20 new jobs just at the outset alone, not to mention dozens of construction jobs to get the facility renovated. This will be a very significant addition to Waterbury’s economy,” Mr. McGrath said.
“We are very excited to partner with the city of Waterbury on this project,” Mr. Macre added. “Together, our medical model we will make the patients the real winners”
