8/12/2013 - Waterbury Police Department Citizens Police Academy

The Waterbury Police Department will host their Fall Citizens Police Academy, September 16th through October 28th.

This seven week program will be held on Monday evenings, from 6-8 p.m., in the department’s Training Division, located at 240 Bank St, across from Diorio’s restaurant.
Participants will receive training in several areas, including overviews on the Waterbury Police Department’s organizational structure and the function of the various police divisions. Participants will also tour the police department, while experiencing various hands on demonstrations. At the end of the seven week session, participants will also have the opportunity to accompany a police officer on a ride along.

Applicants must be 18 years old and be a Waterbury resident, business owner, or active in the Waterbury community. Because of the sensitive nature of police work, a background check will be completed on all applicants, which includes a criminal history check, warrant check and driver’s license status check. Applications can be picked up in the main lobby of the Waterbury Station, 255 East Main St, or at the Community Relations Division, 240 Bank St.

All applications must be returned to the Community Relations Division by Friday September 6th at 4 p.m. Class size is restricted to first 20 participants.
