Hello, future!

Today the City of Waterbury’s vision meets its full potential with Jacobs creating greater solutions to deliver more: the promise of a more connected, sustainable world. At Jacobs, our focus on building long-term client relationships has helped us become one of the largest and most diverse providers of technical, professional and construction services, including all aspects of architecture, engineering and construction, operations and maintenance, as well as scientific and specialty consulting. Jacobs, founded in 1947, is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

The City has retained Jacobs to deliver full-service operation, maintenance, and management of its wastewater facility, collection systems, South End Disposal Area, and the Industrial Pretreatment (IPP) and Fats, Oil and Grease (FOG) Programs. Jacobs offers a proven track record of reliable and cost-effective wastewater services. Jacobs is the best choice to address related challenges while elevating WPC operations and performance. As the industry’s only integrated operations and technical firm, Jacobs brings a full spectrum of resources to offer Waterbury unmatched support, creative solutions and technical innovation. In addition, Jacobs is teaming with Synagro to operate Waterbury’s biosolids facilities. The highest level of operational excellence is achieved via our collaborative partnership approach. Waterbury will benefit from Jacobs resources around the corner, and around the world.

What is FOG? Fat, oil and grease buildup from restaurants and other commercial food preparers and homes is a common cause of sewer backups. Fats, oils and grease wash into the plumbing system and collect inside sewer pipes. FOG buildup eventually blocks pipes, causing sewage backups and overflows.

Sewer Use: Unless otherwise specified, sewer use will be determined based on annual water meter consumption. If any City user of the sewer system wishes to be heard regarding its sewer user bill, such user shall make a detailed written request within 2 years from the date bill issuance, to the Water Pollution Control Authority.
