Prior to the start of the annual residential Street Sweeping Program DPW crews will be sweeping the downtown area including the Central Business District during the week of April 5, 2021.
The City’s residential street sweeping program will begin on Monday April 12 2021 weather permitting. Below is information regarding the first two weeks of the program. Detailed updates will be provided weekly through local media sources including the City of Waterbury website.
Property owners are asked to begin sweeping their sidewalks into the immediate gutter line, removing any debris, litter and leaves. Sand should not be swept into large piles.
Week beginning Monday 4/12/21:
Crew 1 will begin sweeping in District 6-4 which is in the north side of town from Long Hill area southerly to East Main St and Cherry St easterly to Berkeley Ave.
After completing the Long Hill area this crew will continue work into the Lakewood Rd area and the Bucks Hill area.
Crew 2 will begin work in District 1-4, starting at the Waterbury/Middlebury line continuing south and west to Oronoke Rd.
After completing the Country Club Rd area this crew will continue working through Town Plot and the Brooklyn areas.
The Public Works Department will post signs in the districts prior to scheduled sweeping. Every effort should be made to remove parked vehicles from the scheduled routes prior to the arrival of the sweepers. Vehicles not removed during the sweeping operation may be towed at the owner’s expense.
