The City’s residential street sweeping program will begin on Monday March 28, 2016 weather permitting. Below is information regarding the first two weeks of the program. Detailed updates will be provided weekly through local media sources, including the City of Waterbury website.
Property owners are asked to begin sweeping their sidewalks into the immediate gutter line, removing any debris, litter and leaves. Sand should not be swept into large piles.
Week beginning Monday 3/28/16:
Crew 1 will begin sweeping in District 6-4 which is in the north side of town from Long Hill area southerly to East Main Street and Cherry Street easterly to Berkeley Avenue.
After completing the Long Hill area this crew will continue work into the Lakewood Road area and the Bucks Hill area.
Crew 2 will begin work in District 1-4, starting at the Waterbury/Middlebury line continuing south and west to Oronoke Road.
After completing the Country Club Road area, this crew will continue working through Town Plot and the Brooklyn areas.
Afternoon and night sweeping including District 5-1 from Sperry Street easterly to Cherry Street and Grove Street southerly to Meadow Street, including the downtown business district will occur during the week of March 21. In addition to the downtown business district, industrial complexes in the Progress Lane and Reidville Drive area will be swept.
The Public Works Department will post signs in the districts prior to scheduled sweeping. Every effort should be made to remove parked vehicles from the scheduled routes prior to the arrival of the sweepers. Vehicles not removed during the sweeping operation may be towed at the owner’s expense.
