The Waterbury Fire Department is organized to deliver to the citizens of Waterbury the highest degree of protection of life, property, and the environment that is technologically possible. This service shall be provided in the safest and most efficient manner possible and all operations will be conducted with courage, integrity, sincerity, and dedication. |

| Services Provided |
- Fire prevention and public education - schools, civic groups, and businesses
- Building, site, and home inspections
- Code enforcement
- Fire and emergency response - fires, alarms, odors, and good intent calls
- Rescue response - motor vehicle, below grade, high angle, confined space, elevator entrapment, and water emergencies
- Hazardous materials response - gas leaks, chemical emergencies, carbon monoxide, unknown odors, and roadway incidents
- Regional involvement in planning and equipment for natural and man-made disasters
- Service calls - vehicle lockouts, water problems, EMS and Police assists, smoke detector testing and replacement, and animal incidents
- Safe Place program, Muscular Dystrophy 'Fill the Boot' campaign, benefit sporting events, community events, and flag raisings
