Approximately 17,445 children attend the Waterbury Public Schools which consists of 19 elementary schools, two Interdistrict magnet schools, three middle schools, three high schools, one alternative education school and one learning center.

The Philosophy of W. F. Kaynor Technical High School is to provide technical training with instruction of academic competency skills in preparation for student transition from school to career and post-secondary education. We provide a challenging and stimulating educational environment that prepares students in comprehensive academic and occupation-specific programs, so that they will be able to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Founded in 1968 and located in the West End of Waterbury, Connecticut, Holy Cross High School is the largest Catholic secondary school in the state. Holy Cross offers a college preparatory education within a faith-centered environment. The school is sponsored and staffed by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Eastern Province, in association with the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame and dedicated lay men and women.

Sacred Heart High School

The Chase Collegiate School Community is made up of teachers, students, parents, alumni, grandparents, former faculty, friends, and community leaders to name a few. The Chase curriculum is based on a classic idea of what constitutes a first-rate education but also encompasses the visual and performing arts, athletics and service to community.

The mission of Granville Academy is to provide primarily inner-city youth in grades 8 through 12 with fundamental skills in business, finance, science and engineering. Classes are held in bi-weekly sessions from October through April of each year. By gaining these skills, students will be better equipped to overcome barriers and assimilate into the economic mainstream. It is intended that our students share their knowledge with others and ultimately help build strong and economically viable inner-city communities based on free enterprise.

The University of Connecticut's Waterbury campus serves more than 1,000 students annually. In its sixty years of operation, UConn Waterbury has opened the doors to educational access and excellence to thousands of Connecticut residents, many of whom have distinguished themselves in the fields of community service, business, education, law and politics. Today, the campus is located in a modern, state-of-the art facility in the heart of downtown Waterbury.

The University of New Haven is composed of five colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the Tagliatela College of Engineering, the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, and University College. Courses are held on the Naugatuck Valley Community College Campus in Founders Hall, Room F305.
